Dear Go friends

Welcome to the Toyota European Go Tour 2001-2002 in Bratislava, Capital of Slovakia and pearl of Danube river.
We would like to welcome all players who decided to come and invite all of you who are not sure yet.
It is really pleasure to see so many players come to play Go or just spend a nice weekend. Only one can be a winner but everybody can enjoy the time here. And that is we wish you - Have a nice time and

Beginning of Slovak Go are connected with Mr. Popovyč and Mr. Kolesár. Both of them were from Bratislava and began to play Go game in 1972. One year later they found a small go players society together with Mr. Oravec.
The official inception of Go in Slovakia dates back to 18th April 1974, when the first Go club was estabilished and city match between Bratislava and Prague was organized.
The Slovak Go Association was founded in 1991 and became a member of the Association of Sports Union of Slovakia in 1993.
Traditional tournament in Bratislava is played for a long time. First was hold in 1976 and is played every year until 2001. Now for the first time the tournament belongs into Toyota European Go Tour 2001-2002.

Some important things to know...

* For parking in surroundings during work days between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM you need a parking card. It costs 5,- Sk and is valid for one hour. Don't forget to mark date and time at parking card and put it behind the front window. Parking during Saturdays and Sundays (and also after 4:00 PM during work days) is free. Please take care not to park at private places or at other restricted places. City police is very active. Get your car back takes about two hours and it's quite expensive.
* Our main slovak sponsor - CASINO SLOVAKIA - offered for participants possibility to play games in Casino. Each adult participant will get "welcome playing jettons" in amount 100,- Sk to play in Casino. You can not change "welcome jettons" for cash but after you play and win there are no restrictions any more. You are of course welcome normally play in Casino (entrance under regular conditions) daily from 11:00 AM till 4:00 AM. By the Slovak law there is restricted playing in Casino for children under 18 years.
* Meals : There is the Reduta restaurant at the same place as playing hall (menu a la card). Furthermore you can find a lot of restaurants either in Old town or at both banks of the Danube river.
* Refreshment : During all the time cafeterie in Casino is working. You can by café, drinks, little snacks...
* It is strictly forbidden to smoke inside playing hall.
